One of the world’s most popular developmental disabilities is autism. Itusually affects the person’s social and communication skills. There are sometreatments for autism that can improve the patient’s developmental growth. Manypatients have, in fact, benefited from therapeutic intervention.Since autisticchildren close themselves off from their surroundings, it is very challengingto teach them at times because they stop observing – which is a critical toolfor learning. Autism therapy tries to work around this obstacle throughdifferent approaches founded on applied behavioral analysis.

Results reported include the release of restrictions and tensions fromcurrent and past illnesses, emotional upsets, accidents, and other discomforts, and there have been reports of a reduction in Autistic symptoms. Therapists aretrained to carefully listen to the vibrations to find out where there aredisturbances and where focus should be placed. The pineal gland begins releasingmelatonin when there is a lack of signals from the eyes to the visual center ofthe brain; that is, when it becomes dark. The greater the levels of melatoninin the blood, the less capable the brain stem (which is responsible for keepingus awake) is to keep us awake, and sleep results. To equip autistic patientswith the skills necessary to function in their environment, there are a lot ofmethods of behavior modification available. This type of therapy stems from thetheory that good behavior or conduct that is rewarded will have more chances ofbeing repeated than the conduct that is ignored. We call this theory appliedbehavior analysis (ABA), and this entails structured skill-oriented activitiesbasing on the patient’s wellbeing and specific needs.

Once she built confidence with the basics of communication, I removed thedog from her and I still held the cat stuffed animal. At first she did not wantto talk to the cat but eventually learned that talking to the cat was also oktoo. To have her talking about more topics, we would have animal parties whereI pretended I was many animals. We would have parties where some animals gotalong, some did not. Most autistics cannot integrate senses and suffer eitherfrom a hypo- or from hyperactivity of the sensor integrating organs. Sensortherapy is usually performed by physical, occupational and speech therapists;they all must work together to erase wrong further accumulated sensorinformation and induce reorganized sensory knowledge.

When you decide on a therapy approach, keep a detailed record of yourchild’s symptoms and response to the therapy. Try to add just one therapy at atime (perhaps just one per week). If a therapy causes worse behavior in yourchild, then drop it.Autism is a condition covered under the Individuals withDisabilities Education Act (IDEA). Services covered by IDEA include earlyidentification and assessment and speech language pathology (speech therapy). This law protects the rights of patients with autism and provides guidelines toassist in their education.
