This course examines the etiology, behavioral characteristics, and treatment techniques for language disorders in children. Studies how to identify language deficits (methods, tests, and instruments used in the diagnosis of child language disorders). - Path to Licensure
Students enrolled in the M.S. program in Speech Pathology must follow state-specific licensure requirements for the state they live in or plan to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist upon graduation.
Upon graduation, students are eligible for national certification through ASHA (CCC-SLP) due to the program's Accreditation with ASHA.
Admissions requirements include:
1. Bachelor's degree (completion of 36 credit hours of undergraduate prerequisite CSD-related coursework if Bachelor's degree is not in CSD)
2. 25 hours of guided clinical observation in the practice of Speech-Language Pathology
3. Minimum GPA of 3.0 for final 4 semesters of undergraduate study
4. Minimum GPA of 3.5 in CSD prerequisite coursework
5. GRE scores; Minimum of 146 (Verbal & Quantitative sub-tests) & 3.5 (Written Examination)

1. Master’s (or its equivalent) in Speech-Language Pathology from an institution accredited by the Council on Professional Standards of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and approved by the U.S. Department of Education.
2. Evidence of eligibility for meeting ASHA requirements for CCC in Speech pathology, including: 375 hours of supervised clinical practicum, 36 weeks of full-time postgraduate Clinical Fellowship (supervised by an SLP with a CCC).
3. Passage of an ETS written examination
